In 1984, an organic vegetable farmer named Richard Schauer (Bubba), and his wife Julie, opened Bubba's Bar B Que in Frisco, North Carolina on Hatteras Island. Armed with a secret family recipe for sauce, Bubba's quickly became an Outer Banks mainstay. In 1991, Bubba's expanded to Avon, NC with Bubba's Too. Both restaurants are still in operation.
